18. ISFET Electrode and The Principle

ISFET Electrode

ISFET (Ion Selective Field Effect Transistor) is a quite unique pH sensor. By applying various kinds of sensing membrane, this product even functions as diverse potentiometric sensors.

Typical Modifications of ISFET Electrode

1. Hydrogen peroxide measurement at high rates

2. Sodium ion measurement
Capable to sense sodium ion by applying Na+ - ionophore
to the gate region

3. Bio-sensor
Capable to measure organic acid by fixing the lipoprotein lipase (LPL) with glutaric aldehyde to the gate region

The Principle of Sensing pH Value

Its ion-selective gate membrane consists of SiO2 - Ta2O5, on which interface potential ("E") generates according to the quantity of hydrogen ion (proton). Thus this product is able to measure pH value.
