BAS Electrochemical Webinar 2024 December
BAS held the twenty-sixth webinar, it was the fifteenth lecture in the field of coordination chemistry and electrochemistry, introduced by Prof. Masa-aki Haga, from Chuo University.
Theme of the webinar
Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)
- Electrochemistry with periodic (sinusoidal) signals
Topic of the webinar
This time Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) method was discussed.
Cyclic voltammetry is a transient method, in which an electric potential is applied to create electron transfer reaction between the substrate and electrode which induce the state away from equilibrium and investigate the redox response on the electrode. On the other hand, the electrochemical impedance method observes the response when a very small periodic perturbation, such as a sine wave, is applied without disturbing the equilibrium.
The EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) method is effective to evaluate the ion or charge transport conduction in solid or solid-electrolyte interface such as Li ion battery or solid oxide fuel cell, or proton conductors.
