BAS Electrochemical Webinar 2023 June
BAS held the seventheenth webinar, it was the sixth lecture in the field of coordination chemistry and electrochemistry, introduced by Prof. Masa-aki Haga, from Chuo University.
Theme of the webinar
6. Tips in Electrochemical Measurements - Part 5
Topic of the webinar
In this webinar series, electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, rotating disk electrode, and spectroelectrochemistry have been introduced. In this lecture, tips and details for electrochemical measurements were introduced.
When performing electrochemical measurements in a three-electrode cell, there are several notes to consider, and in this lecture some of them were discussed.
For example, what type of solvent and supporting electrolyte can be used, depending on the solubility of the analyte? How to select the appropriate solvent, either aqueous or non-aqueous? How to select the electrode?
By carefully choosing these conditions, we can get the good result to access the successive electron transfer chains.
Recently, new solvent systems, such as supercritical fluids and ionic liquids have been introduced into the electrochemical field. The challenge to use these new solvent systems plays an important role in opening up new chemistry.
At the end, reference electrode selection and IR drop during electrochemical measurements were introduced.
