BAS Electrochemical Webinar 2023 Summer
BAS held the eighteenth webinar, it was the seventh lecture in the field of coordination chemistry and electrochemistry, introduced by Prof. Masa-aki Haga, from Chuo University.
Theme of the webinar
7. Excited state Redox Potentials/Electrochemiluminescence - Part 6
Topic of the webinar
In this webinar series, many different topics have been introduced focusing not only on cyclic voltammetry, but also on other electrochemical techniques. In this webinar, the redox potential in the excited state and electrochemolumunescence will be introduced.
Before the introduction of the redox potential in the excited state and electrochemiolumunescence, the electron transfer between the molecule and the electrode in the fundamental state and the relationship between the Fermi level of the electrode and the HOMO and LUMO energy levels of the complex was reviewed.
After the review, the redox potential in the excited state and electrochemiluminescence (ECL), a type of luminescence produced by electrochemical reactions in solutions at the electrode, when electrochemically generated species undergo a highly exergonic reaction to produce an electronically excited state that emits light, was explained, with some application examples.
