BAS Electrochemical Webinar 2024 Summer
BAS held the twenty-fourth webinar, it was the thirteenth lecture in the field of coordination chemistry and electrochemistry, introduced by Prof. Masa-aki Haga, from Chuo University.
Theme of the webinar
Basics of Electrochemistry: iR Drop/iR Compensation
Topic of the webinar
In the series of lectures in the field of coordination chemistry and electrochemistry, introducing basic of electrochemistry, this time iR drop, which is often a basic problem for electrochemical measurements was discussed.
For the cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurement in non-aqueous solvents, since organic solvents have a low dielectric constant, their conductivity is poor, and the CV peak separation is generally larger than the theoretical value, this larger peak separation arises from iR drop. By using the iR compensation, the peak separation is approaching the theoretical value.
By using the iR compensation, the peak separation is approaching the theoretical value.
In this lecture, ir was first discussed what/where and how to measure and minimize iR drop.
Then, when and how iR compensation is required and necessary was discussed with some examples.
