Reference electrode for Aqueoous solution (Hg type)

Calomel Standard reference electrode (saturated KCl)

SCE (Saturated Calomel Electrode) has been used as reference electrode instead of SHE (Standard Hydrogen Electrode) for the reference potential measurement of electrodes in electrochemical research.

Reference potential

Hg2Cl2 + 2e = 2Hg + 2Cl- E0=241 mV vs RHE (25 deg C) ∗ The reference potential is the measured value using RHEK reversible hydrogen electrode kit (Cat. No. 013597).

Reference electrode free from chloride ion (saturated K2SO4)

The RE-2CP Reference electrode is recommended, if you dislike a contamination with chloride ion from chloride type reference electrode.

Reference electrode for alkaline solution

The RE-61AP reference electrode is made of Hg/HgO instead of calomel paste, and 1 M sodium hydroxide is used as an electrolyte solution. It is used under high pH environment as reference electrode.
Also, potassium hydroxide solution can be used as a internal solution, instead of sodium hydroxide solution.

The electrode holder is delivered empty, to be filled with 1 M NaOH aqueous solutions by the user.
Please pay attention to handling.
∗1 M NaOH solution used in this electrode is not provided, also we do not supply.

Screw type reference electrode for alkaline solution

The RE-61VT reference electrode is made of Hg/HgO instead of calomel paste, and 1 M sodium hydroxide is used as an electrolyte solution. It has the specific design to be suitable for the ALS line-up flow cell, as Cross flow cell※, Radial flow cell※, EQCMT flow cell※ and SEC-3F※ Spectroelectrochemical flow cell.
Also, potassium hydroxide solution can be used as a internal solution, instead of sodium hydroxide solution.

This product is designed to be filled with 1M NaOH solution by the user.

From delivery to use:

This reference electrode is designed for users to fill the electrode body with 1M NaOH solution themselves after receiving it.
We recommend leaving it for at least 3 hours between filling and use to stabilize the potential.

※ Note:
When using with Cross flow cell, Radial flow cell, EQCMT flow cell and SEC-3F, please avoid the below conditions, because some contents and working electrodes have a low tolerance for alkaline solution.
