Reference potential
Hg2Cl2 + 2e = 2Hg + 2Cl-
E0=241 mV vs RHE (25 deg C)
Hg2SO4 + 2e = 2Hg + SO42-
E0=657 mV vs RHE (25 deg C)
The reference potential is the measured value using RHEK reversible hydrogen electrode kit (Cat. No. 013597).
- Material: Polymethylpentene, for the high chemical resistance is used.
- Liquid junction: Ceramic tip
SCE (Saturated Calomel Electrode) has been used as reference electrode instead of SHE (Standard Hydrogen Electrode) for the reference potential measurement of electrodes in electrochemical research. The RE-2CP Reference electrode is recommended, if you dislike a contamination with chloride ion from chloride type reference electrode.
